As part of the project GWD Forestry were required to obtain the relevant environmental licences in order to cut and transport timber from the plantation site areas. Licensing is relatively complex and took a number of years to obtain from the relevant government departments in Brazil.
GWD experienced a number of delays obtaining the permits over the years utilising the services of 3 independent consultants but finally obtained all permits in line with project expectations in October / November 2016.
Upon obtaining the permits the company therefore was allowed to move onto the planning stages of harvest. The documents shown in the slider below show the official translation of the harvesting licences issued by INEMA.
